Dutse — Jigawa State Government will henceforth be sponsoring 100 best secondary graduating science students to study in the United Kingdom every year, Governor Sule Lamido, has said. Governor Lamido who disclosed this during the end of year session with journalists in the state at the weekend, said it is part of his administration strategy to reposition the educational sector in the state, adding that it is the responsibility of government to provide quality education for the younger generation.

Said he, "Our administration has resolved to start developing our future leaders in the state by producing quality graduates with minds to face the challenge in Jigawa. We were educated by past leaders who sacrificed so much to gave us the required education with a view to develop our society and we are grateful to them for their foresight, leadership of our people".

Governor Lamido further explained that the students will be selected based on merit without interference from any Government official, adding that no special attention will be given to any benefiting student.

He noted that the previous policy was abused by officials who instead of making it public, select their close relations, while key government officials are privilege to get the foreign sponsorship, stressing that it will not be business as usual for them.
