Luanda — Angolan youths have been called to engage in studies, taking advantage of the schools and professional training centres that exist countrywide, ANGOP has learnt.
This call was launched on Sunday by the Territory Administration minister, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira, in Ucua City, northern Bengo Province, during the main act that served to commemorate the January 04 holiday, Martyrs Day.
The date was instituted in tribute to the those that died in a massacre perpetrated by the colonial authorities, in the early 1960's, whose victims were workers of a cotton factory located in the Baixa de Kassanje locality (north-east of the country).
In the rally, the minister, on behalf of President José Eduardo dos Santos, encouraged young people to be more and more creative, advising them to reinforce their capacity to hold small businesses and become good businesspeople.
The minister also called on women to assume their participation in various tasks of family, professional and social management with a high sense of responsibility, competence and solidarity, taking into account the role they play on children's education.
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira also highlighted the role played by old people towards the dignity of Angolans, underlining that their example should serve to transmit to new generations the most noble values and civility ideals, work and affection, patriotism and family solidarity.
