Somalia: Doha Centre Gives Money to Family of Murdered Reporter

Somalia — The Doha Centre for Media Freedom has given an assistance grant sum of $3000 to the family of Hassan Mayow Hassan, the first journalist to be killed in 2009.

National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) facilitated the distribution of the money to his family.

Hassan, 36, who worked for Radio Shabelle, leaves a wife and five children.

The money was brought to radio Shabelle headquarter by NUSOJ information secretary, Abdirahman Omar Dalmar and radio Shabelle's director Muktar Mohamed Hirabe handed the money to the family of the murdered reporter.

His mother and his wife with five children received the money and thanked Doha Centre for their kind help.
