West Africa: D-Link Appoints Uwaje Regional Director for West Africa

The Vice President of D-Link International, Original Equipment Manufacturers of quality IT Network Products and Solutions, MS.Yeo Kee Lee will be in Nigeria today to consolidate the appointment of Chris Uwaje, Oracle of the Nigerian IT Industry as the company's Regional Director for West Africa.

Uwaje who was crowned as the IT Personality of the year 2008 with this appointment has added another crown to his arsenals of achievement with the recent achievement.

By the new appointment, according to keen observers, Uwaje is expected to change the face of D-link in West Africa, as he will be responsible for restructuring the D-Link International brand and market channel spectrum in and around 5 Anglophone countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Serial Leone, and Liberia

On why  he accepted to lead D-link West Africa mission critical assignment, Uwaje said, "If the Internet as it is now represents the future of mankind, and networking technology is the bridge to that future, indeed, D-Link is globally recognized as not only the bridge but also the centre of gravity of world-wide networking products, solutions and services.

The D-Link bi-line which is "Building Network for People" captures the D-link vision. My vision is positioning D-Link as the preferred market leader in building and delivering networks solutions for the West African people.

" My mission amongst others are: To Transform the Nigerian IT-Network Solutions and services into the reliable hub to serve and service the needs of entire West African sub-region. To build networks and solutions for West-African people - through sustained delivery of viable technology solutions and services for National Development Projects, Research and Development, Deep Market Penetration, Mass Market appeal - winning top class customers and product support services in Nigeria and West African Sub-Region.

" To make Nigeria the 1st address and central clearing house for D-Link Networking products, solutions and services in West Africa and attain the following long-term goals, including product research and development center; production assembly point for SKD and CKD components; warehouse facility for shipping to West African countries. Channel development priorities: priority level one is to development of the Nigerian /West Africa market" he explained.

Priority level two, according to him, is to make people of West Africa 'Think D-Link' by embedding D-Link solutions and services images into their mind-set.

" Our strategy focus aims to deliver the following goals: Dominance of the Nigerian Wireless LAN market, Winning Strategies in the Mass market Arena.

"Building a reputable profile for Managed Switches; Building Commensurate Infrastructure and Manpower Capacity; Engaging the Project Solution Models; Achievement of the $50million (USD) target by 2010" he added

Uwaje, who is very passionate about youth empowerment, before now, was the Principal Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Connect Technologies Limited, (Developers of E-Government Solutions, Enterprise Banker Enterprise, Enterprise Knowledge Intelligence Groupware & Enterprise Cooperative Financials Application).

Uwaje brings on board over three decades of on-the-job IT Professional practice as Computer Scientist - spread across three continents (Europe/Africa and America), specializing in IT-Strategy Consulting - incorporating SIT Park project conceptualization, design, implementation, project management and Technical Support.

He is an expert in Software Design and Engineering Solutions; Research, Design and Development (RD&D). is special professional focus: National & Regional IT Policy; Coordinating Chairman, Council for West Africa Information Technology Professionals (CWAITP). President Cybersecurity NGO _ Global Network for Cybersolutions; Immediate Past President of Information Technology Association of Nigeria (ITAN) and 1st Vice President of Institute of Software Practitioners Association of Nigeria (ISPON). Member, National Inter-Ministerial Committee on software development. Council Member, Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria. (CPN).

He is a distinguished Fellow of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Fellow: Institute of Analysts and Programmers. U.K. Fellow: Institute of Certified Professional of UK; Former Council Member: Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). With Uwaje on the driving seat of D-link International Brand, it is readily assumed that West Africa and Nigeria in particular will benefit immensely.
