Luanda — The chief of staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), general Francisco Pereira Furtado, Wednesday in Luanda considered as groundless the reports in which FAA and the National Police are carrying out in eastern Moxico province massive recruitment of youths for fighting mission in DR Congo.
General Furtado, who was reacting to information broadcasted by private radio stations, referred that FAA "do not need to recruit young people for any mission in the country or abroad".
"They have their duty of guaranteeing the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence and they abide by the law of the national defence and of the FAA", explained the Angolan high-ranking officer.
According to him, FAA maintain their staff lodged in barracks and for the time being they have no any plan to implement the mobilisation, although in the course of this year they will do it according to the plan for ensuring the replacement of the demobilised staff as well as to keep the completion level of the military units.
General Furtado, who denied the involvement of the Angolan soldiers in the situation of internal conflict in eastern region of DR Congo, also admitted that this politically motivated information worries extremely the leadership of FAA on their origin.
"We have been permanently following up the development of the situation due to the risks and threatens of our own sovereignty and border", stressed the general.
According to a note issued by the Government of the eastern Moxico province, delivered to Angop Wednesday, such reports are diversionist actions with political motivation aimed at tarnishing the institutions of the State.
The local organs of defence and security are busy to find out the masterminds of this fallacious propaganda, with view to restore the truth, concluded the document.
