South Africa: Madlala Clears Air On Nale Move

7 January 2009

Contrary to media reports claiming that Orlando Pirates have benefitted from Abia Nale's move from Golden Arrows to Kaizer Chiefs, KickOff.com has established that the Buccaneers have not benefitted financially in anyway from the transfer deal.

Speculation was that Pirates would benefit R1.5 million transfer, because earlier this month Pirates' chairman Irvin Khoza, in announcing that they would be withdrawing from the deal, said: "As Pirates, we will only pursue the developmental aspect negotiations separately because the boy is from our academy."

Nale moved from Bucs' development structure on loan to now defunct City Pillars who later cleared him to Arrows without approval from Pirates.

Golden Arrows' managing director Mato Madlala confirms to KickOff.com that Nale has been cleared to Kaizer Chiefs, but says she is not aware that there is money owed to Pirates.

"As far as I am concerned we haven't received any correspondence from Pirates, or any other party, that we have to pay a share of Nale's transfer fee to Pirates."

Nale is set to make his debut in Chiefs colours this weekend when the Phefeni Boys take on Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership game at Johannesburg Stadium on Sunday.

Chiefs' coach Muhsin Ertugral has already spoken highly of the Vaal-born midfielder whom he says, he intends to use more as a striker.
