Uganda/Rwanda: Amavubi Welcome Back Ndoli

6 January 2009

Kampala — Today, 1.30pm, Group A, Rwanda v Tanzania.

THE Amavubi Stars of Rwanda first choice keeper Jean Claude Ndoli will return for their third game of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup against Tanzania today, Swalley Kenyi reports.

Ndoli was stretchered off after a collision with Uganda Cranes striker Caeser Okhuti at Namboole on January 1. The Rwandans conceded following the incident and the Stars lost the game 4-0.

Ndoli's quick recovery is a big relief for coach Branko Tucak who had initially ruled him out for the rest of their campaign.

The 1999 champions and 2007 finalists take on Tanzania in a must-win encounter for either side after they recovered to a 3-0 win over Somalia.

"Ndoli damaged his ligament during the loss to Uganda. He has been undergoing medication, and should be ready to face Tanzania," Rwanda's team doctor Moussa Hakizimana said.

Tanzania, who last won the championship in 1994, and Rwanda have three points a piece.

Both teams lost in their opening games but each won their second encounter. The only chance to remain in contention is to win today's clash.

Tucak will again invest his hope in the attacking duo of Eric Gasana and Kamana Bokota to torment Tanzania.

Tanzania's Brazilian coach Marcio Maximo has maintained that there is no favourite to win the group.

Uganda and Zanzibar top Group A with four points ahead of Tanzania and Rwanda (three) after two matches each.
