Kickoff (Cape Town)
7 January 2009
Golden Arrows have strengthened their defence with the signing of Nathi Lions' Mlungisi Masinga and Simphiwe Duze.
Masinga was Nathi skipper and led the First Division Coastal Stream side to the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals last season where they ultimately lost to Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Masinga has also played for the development national team under coach Serame Letsoaka.
Speaking to KickOff.com after this morning's training session, Masinga said, "I am excited about joining Arrows on a two year deal. I am grateful to Nathi boss Nathi Maphumulo for spotting me while playing in the Second Division.
"I was meant to join another Absa Premiership team at the start of the season but Maphumulo stalled my move because he wanted a good move for me. Now I am ready for my new challenge at Arrows."
The new signees will have to battle it out for place in the starting line up against the likes of Siyabonga Sangweni, Msekeli Mvalo and Musa Bilankulu.
Masinga adds that he is already hoping to make the team traveling to Cape Town for their date against Santos on Sunday.
Don't miss the next edition of Kick Off magazine (issue number 344) on sale from Monday, January 19.
