Kampala — TEN nuns of the Daughters of St. Theresa on Tuesday took perpetual vows, vowing to die serving God.

The colourful function presided over by the Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhirwa, was held at Virika Cathedral in Kabarole district.

The bishop requested the other Catholics to pray for the nuns.

"I call upon you the children of God to join us and pray for the nuns who have dedicated their lives to God," Muhirwa said.

At the same function three nuns, Rev. Sr. Rose Tindigwihura, Sr. Veronica Boonabaana and Sr. Maria Izzabella celebrated their golden jubilee. 15 others celebrated their silver jubilee in sisterhood.

Recounting Pope Benedict XVI's New Year message on children, Muhirwa urged parents, religious and political leaders to observe children's rights.

The Bishop of Kasese Diocese, Egidio Nkaijanabwo, retired Bishop of Hoima Diocese, Edward Baharagate and auxiliary Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese, Joseph Mugenyi, also attended the function.
