Amajita's prospects in this month's African Youth Championships - under threat following the absence of a number of top players from camp - have received a boost with the recovery from injury of striker Thulani Ngcepe.
The Moroka Swallows player says he has recovered from a serious rib injury he picked up about two months ago and is now with the national Under-20 team in camp.
The 18-year-old discloses to KickOff.com that he resumed light training about three weeks ago.
Ngcepe picked up the injury during Swallows training session when he was tackled by teammate Ryan Botha.
The injury kept him out of December's Metropolitan Cosafa Under-20 championships which his Amajita teammates won.
"I am always unfortunate when it comes to that tournament. In the 2007 edition, I sustained a foot injury during the first match and that kept me out of the rest of the tournament," Ngcepe says.
Among the players being withheld by their respective clubs from the Serame Letsoaka-coach squad are Sameehg Doutie and Thulani Serero (Ajax Cape Town), Kamohelo Mokotjo and Masibusane Zongo (SuperSport United), Phumelele Bhengu and Ramahlwe (Moroka Swallows) and Holland-based Kermit Erasmus.
Safa vice-president Irvin Khoza yesterday urged the defaulting clubs to release their players to Letsoaka, saying that Amajita's participation in the AYC is a matter of national pride.
