Nigeria: Garko LG Plans N30 Million Youth Centre

Kano — As a way of ensuring that youths, being the backbone of any nation are fully integrated in the scheme of things, Garko local government council has completed arrangement to establish a youth empowerment centre in the new year.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP in Kano, Chairman of the council, Alhaji Shehu Jazuli Sarina, revealed that the essence of the centre is to primarily ensure that youths in the area are self reliant.

According to him, the youth centre will consume the sum of N30 million and it will be completed in the new year, adding that it is just one amongst the numerous developmental projects lined up by his administration for its people.

Sarina emphasised that, "the specific programmes I have for youths in Garko local government is not more than to promote self reliance. To this end, we are gearing our effort towards empowering them by training them in various skills.

"In Garko local government, we are now getting ready to establish an empowerment centre for the youths and it will cost us N30 million. And we are very close to doing that, insha Allah", he further stressed.

Sarina also commended the effort being made by Governor Ibrahim Shekarau to provide democracy dividends for the people of Kano State; saying this is further accentuated in the 2009 budget he presented to the Kano House of Assembly. Also, the Garko local government council boss paid glowing tributes to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, for providing the much needed religious direction and fatherly guidance to the emirate, praying that God would grant him longer life of diligent service to the people.

To the people of the state, Sarina, further enjoined them to continue to provide support for the leadership in the state in its effort to execute its programmes and policies so as to move Kano to greater heights.
