Luanda — Angola's minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, on Wednesday arrived in Kwanza-Norte Province to preside over the commemorations of the National Culture Day, January 08, ANGOP has learnt.
In the first stage of her stay, the minister will unveil in Kambambe District, a photo exhibition named "A trip to Dondo historic village, through its images".
Meetings with governor Henrique André Júnior, members of his staff and other cultural agents, as well as holding of seminars on "Management of archives", "Cultural dynamics", "Management of classified patrimony", " are in also on the agenda.
It also includes a meeting on "symbols and hierarchies of traditional authority", opening of "Arts and Culture Fair", launching of literary works and cinema sessions.
January 08 was instituted as National Culture Day, in reference to the speech of the first Angolan President, António Agostinho Neto, at the time of the swearing-in ceremony of the management board of the Angolan Writers Union (UEA), in 1979.
On the occasion, the late President Agostinho Neto re-opened the debate about the essential matters of national culture and on the ways for its retrieval and dignity, in conditions of independence and sovereignty.
