Angola: 2009 Football Season Opens On February 4

Luanda — Petro Atlético de Luanda (national champions) and Santos FC (winners of Angola Cup) will open the 2009 season of football on February 4, with a match of the Angola Super Cup.

The information is contained in communique from the Angolan Federation of Football (FAA) that reached Angop Thursday, adding that the second leg match will be played on February 7.

The National First Division Championship of Football "Girabola" is expected to start on February 21, with the participation of 14 teams.

They are Petro de Luanda (title holder), 1º de Agosto, Recreativo do Libolo, Santos FC, ASA, Benfica de Luanda, 1º de Maio de Benguela, FC Bravos do Maquis, Desportivo da Huíla, Kabuscorp do Palanca, Interclube, Académica do Lobito, Académica do Soyo and Recreativo da Caála do Huambo.
