Kampala — AN unidentified woman died and eight passengers were injured when a truck loaded with dairy products rammed into six commuter taxis in Kampala yesterday.

The morning rush-hour incident occurred along an accident-prone section of Namirembe Road.

The Kampala Extra traffic chief, Lauben Mbamanya, said Akim Muswangali, lost control of his vehicle and knocked the omnibuses.

The vehicle, whose rusty cabin fell off, hit an electricity pole before it crashed.

The injured, who were rushed to Mulago Hospital, included Florence Sagara from Kitebi, Rashid Ssekatawa from Kabowa, Christine Nakalema, Noel Ssempa, Zerida Nakabugo, Nancy Owino from Katanga and Mike Arituha of Bunamwaya.

Three of the injured had been discharged by press time.
