Osogbo — Osun State Civil Societies Coalition against Corruption and Rights Violation (OSCARV) yesterday visited the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) with their petitions alleging various rights violation and extra-judicial killings in the state.

Fifteen human rights campaigners led by the Convener, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL), Comrade Debo Adeniran, and leader of the Campaign for Democratic and Workers Rights, Comrade Waheed Lawal, also provided documentary, video and photographic evidences to substantiate their claims of extra-judicial killings against the state Police Command.

While making statements to the police yesterday, OSCARV leaders complained about activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, the Eagle Squad and alleged partisan policing by the Command, led by Mr John Moronike.

They also made available compact discs containing accounts of how some individuals were allegedly killed while in police custody, including Madam Misitura Ademola in Ede "A" Police Division, Mr Dauda Najeem, a mechanic who was alleged to have hanged himself inside the Ataoja Police Divisional Command Cell and Master Ladi Agboola, who was allegedly shot point blank by SARS.

Also discussed yesterday was the killing of several members of the opposition political parties, particularly those allegedly killed during the last general elections.

Osun State Police Commissioner was also alleged to have been partisan in his handling of issues involving opposition, which led to petitions filed by OSCARV.

Moronike was alleged of assaulting members of civil society organisations who protested at the venue of the Election petitions Tribunal, presided over by Justice Thomas Naron, July, last year.
