Angola: Statues for Historic Figures Under Study

Ndalatando — Angola's minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, on Wednesday here announced that a project for the valorisation of the country's historic figures (queens, kings and other personalities) is in progress, ANGOP has learnt.

To materialise this project, according to her, the Culture Ministry has been working with the teams that have been tasked with doing a research on this matter, identifying all figures of the national history, through documents, oral tradition and historical accounts, thus counting also with the participation of the country's traditional authorities.

The minister announced it during a meeting she had with chieftains of the northern Kwanza-Norte Province, with whom she analysed matters related to symbols and hierarchy of the traditional system.

"We have the way of making oral accounts gathering. The elders keep in their memories some events and documents that can be important for our project", she explained.

The activity is part of the commemorations of the National Culture Day, marked on January 08.
