Lower and wider than its predecessor, the stylish New Golf reveals a dynamic, sportier image with bold new lights, revised grille with eye-catching new badge and sharper tornado line. Its unmistakable blend of build quality and luxury is seen in the careful attention to detail, right down to the tighter panel gaps.
Luxuriously quiet
Behind the wheel, the first thing you'll notice is the calm. This is the quietest Golf ever, thanks to noise reduction measures such as sound-deadening film in the windscreen and redesigned door and window seals. It gives the classy cabin, with its white instrument lighting, fresh upholstery and chrome highlights, a premium feel. And the intuitively positioned controls mean you'll find everything just where you want it.
Driving fun with economy
A range of advanced new petrol and diesel engines, including Volkswagen's award-winning 1.4-litre TSI engine, deliver impressive fuel economy with low emissions while offering plenty of driving fun. New Golf can be fitted with the innovative new 7-speed Dual Shift Gearbox (DSG). It uses a pair of dry clutches - as opposed to wet ones in the 6-speed box - for even better efficiency and performance.
Safer than ever
You're well protected in the New Golf which achieved a maximum 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating for Adult Occupant Protection. Among the advanced safety features are 7 airbags, including a new driver's knee airbag system, the latest Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) and a head restraint system designed to reduce neck injuries. You can also opt for static cornering fog lights that enhance illumination as you turn at low speed, and a rear seatbelt warning system.
Great value features
Available in three trim levels, all New Golfs benefit from seven airbags, air conditioning, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors, plus body coloured bumpers as standard. Options include Park Assist and reversing camera for trouble-free parking and touchscreen satellite navigation. SE features include automatic rain and dusk sensors, while the GT gains sports seats and suspension and static cornering foglights.
