Major General Emmanuel Abisoye had a hand in the execution of army generals from Plateau State when he chaired the panel that investigated the 1976 abortive coup that led to the killing of the then head of state General Murtala Mohammed, special adviser to the Plateau State governor on Projects Mr. Samuel Karuri said in Jos at the weekend.
Karuri was reacting to the remarks made by Major Jolly Ibrahim Binlam on the role played by Abisoye in the panel he headed that investigated the 1976 coup plotters.
"What Binlam wants to put right? Is it the guilt of Abisoye? Or, Is he trying to exonerate Abisoye? The fact is that what-ever level of investigation, if a panel is set up, it is expected to give recommendations; except in the case of Abisoye. If he did not give recommendations, what were the recommendations of Abisoye? Plateau people want to know if at any stage they said the report of Abisoye was discarded and new investigation was done", he said.
He said Abisoye was the initiator for the execution of the Plateau people. He said he was appointed as chairman of the first investigative panel and made his recommendations.
