Somalia — At least four Ethiopian soldiers have been killed when Insurgents armed with rocket propelled grenades targeted a rocket to an Ethiopian pick up truck that was traveling near ex-pasta factory, a base of Ethiopian troops in north Mogadishu, witnesses said on Sunday.
Residents say the Ethiopian, pick up truck has been burned when the insurgents ambushed and four Ethiopian soldiers died instantly on the scene.
Early on Sunday, Insurgents attacked with mortar shells to the Ethiopian bases in north Mogadishu. The Ethiopian troops then fired back to residential areas in Animal Market neighbourhood north Mogadishu but no casualties have been reported.
U.S.-backed Ethiopian soldiers invaded Somalia in December 2006, ousting the Islamic Courts Union that briefly controlled much of south and central Somalia.
Ethiopia announced plans to withdraw its troops from Somalia last year, but attacks on its troops are still continuing.
Ten Ethiopian soldiers were killed in separate roadside bombs in Mogadishu for the past two weeks.
