Somalia — The head of the joint security committee and cease fire of the transitional government and the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia(ARS), Hessein Siad Qorgab, has denounced Monday insurgent attacks against Ethiopian troops in Mogadishu as they are withdrawing from the country.
Ethiopia announced plans to withdraw its troops from Somalia last year, but the Ethiopian troops are still in Somalia.
Hussein Siad Qorgab said the insurgents who attacked the Ethiopian military bases in Mogadishu yesterday (Sunday) are responsible for the delay of the Ethiopian troops who were planning to leave from those areas in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
"It is unfortunate to try to prevent the Ethiopian troops to withdraw from the bases in Mogadishu and the attacks are meaningless," Qorgab said.
"Ethiopia is determined to complete its troop pull out from Somalia," he addaed.
Hussein Siad Qorgab told Shabelle radio that the Ethiopian troops will pull out as the peace deal in Djibouti states and called for those who are against the peace deal signed in Djibouti to halt the fighting against the Ethiopian soldiers till they will pull out.
The statement of Mr. Qorgab comes as Islamist insurgents attacked on Sunday ex-pasta factory, Hayle Barise building, and Mogadishu Stadium, bases of Ethiopian troops in Mogadishu.
