Botswana: Music Outfit Overwhelmed

Local house outfit By 2 who recently performed along side Pretoria-based house mogul Boju Moju say they were thrilled by the response from the South African crowds and relished the moments. On Christmas day By 2 were showcasing their talents in Kuruman big bash where Motsweding FM was broadcasting live.

They returned again two days later to do their stuff in Mafikeng where again they say the experience was exhilarating. The duo's Lekwalo Thobega told Showtime that it was their first time to get such an ovation from the crowd.

"The crowd was huge and excited, you just felt their energy and it made you perform to your peak because they showed their support. We were overwhelmed. It was our first time outside the country and we thought people would not be that interested, but when we came on stage they were amazing, it was as if we were the biggest stars they have been waiting for," she said.

The festivals were organised by Pretoria-based Sunshine Music, the company that produced and distributed By2's latest album -Time to Rock.

"In Botswana people at festivals cheer only those they rate as celebrities even if they do not perform well at that given time, the smaller artists are seldom cheered, but it was different with the South Africans. People did not want us to leave the stage, but they were not excited the same way when Bujo Moju came on stage," Thobega said.

However, Thobega said that the good response to their performance could have come about due to the good marketing of their latest product in South Africa.

"Probably people got our copies and have been listening to us on radio and have been waiting anxiously to see us on stage. But I am sure we did not disappoint, we posted a good performance, which will make them want to see us again.

It was our first time on foreign soil and we had to make the most of it," she said.

She was also adamant that their latest piece of work was amongst the best house projects by a local group last year and that they expected it to push them a notch high in the popularity stakes.
