Lagos — National Council on Education (NCE) has approved the Education Quality Assurance Policy for the country.
In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, the council also approved the National Teachers' Education Policy and the National Information Technology (IT) Education Framework.
According to the statement, the NCE similarly approved the National Quality Assurance handbook to serve as a guide on instruments for quality assurance.
It said that the council further approved the first batch of the revised Senior Secondary School (SSS) curricula in 17 subjects.
The revised curricula included those of English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics, physics, Chemistry, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Financial Accounting, Insurance and Geography.
The council further approved the application of a 10-year Strategic Plan and a 3-year Operational Plan that would guide the allocation of public funds in the development of education in states and local government areas.
The NCE also said that tertiary institutions should not charge more than N1000 as processing fees per candidate for the post-UME/MPCEME screening exercise.
"Tertiary institutions should institutionalise standard test instruments and transparency in post UME/MPCEME screening exercises and should release Post UME/MPCEME results within two weeks," the council added.
