Botswana: Pop Star Tebogo Releases Debut Album

13 January 2009

Tshabong — Tebogo Tlhagadikgora of the Popstar Botswana fame has dropped his first album entitled "How I wish" after winning the Popstar Botswana 2008. One of his rewards was a recording contract in the United Kingdom with the assistance of Keabetswe Sesinyi aka Master Dee, the pioneer of Botswana's homegrown Popstar. This is a promising album for a person who started singing in church where he discovered he has an abundant talent before emerging victorious in the Popstar Botswana.

The album really shows that Tebogo is willing to share his talent with his compatriots and the rest of the world. The first track of the album is dedicated to God and in it he promises the Almighty that he would continue to sing in his honor till the end of his life.

As if the album was done in a pyramid style of importance, Tebogo's first song glorifies God, whereas in the second track, Tebogo dedicates his love to his mother and promises that indeed he would not forget his wonderful mother irrespective of what comes his way.

All of the songs, after the second track, are about a person who has fallen in love. Track three Loved by You is the expression of the lovers who reminisce the first time they met and fallen in love with each other. This track depicts the completeness of a person's experience when he/she is in a happy relationship of a dream come true.

The title track How I wish epitomizes a situation of a long distance relationship in which the person desires that he/she could be closer to usher his lover to loving arms.

It is a situation in which one misses the other. Its their imaginations that bring them together and brings warmth and hope, that one day they could be physically united.

Your love track number five is somehow different from other songs because of its reliance on instruments and the fast beat, as compared to the first four tracks which are bit slow and calm; again its is about a person who is in love and explains the craziness that is brought by love.

Another love song Ooh My Love is uttered by a person whose love stood the test of time and it grows from strength to strength despite what the outside world says about them and how the detractors tried to tear them apart.

Track number seven She is gone describes an incident, which actually occurred to a guy who has missed talking to his girl as she changed the trains. What is left for this guy is to regret with a nostalgic feeling that at least he could have jotted down the girl's number. It is an expression of sadness of a lost opportunity.

Track eight is instrumental titled I will Sing. Track nine is a party mix.

For sure this track could be a hit in the party circles around the country especially during this festive season.

Another track of the album include Step Aside, which is track 10. The last track is instrumental denoting the title How I Wish.

All the songs in this album were composed and produced by Master Dee except the lyrics of Loved by You, which he did together with Tebogo and Brenda Razuzunguzwa.

The album was published by Popstar Botswana and distributed by MDM Productions.

The Music Complex Studio in London did the recording.
