The reports quoting Commonwealth statement are inaccurate.
The Commonwealth is aware of media reports stating 'a Commonwealth position' on the appointment of ELECAM Members, alleging that the Commonwealth has suspended support to the Government of Cameroon as a consequence of this development.
The reports are inaccurate. The Commonwealth has not issued any public statement on the establishment and composition of ELECAM. We will be discussing the matter as part of our ongoing engagement with the Government
The Commonwealth emphasises its commitment to strengthening democratic processes and institutions in Cameroon.
