Kampala — RUGBY World Cup-bound Lady Cranes will benefit from the expertise of former Springboks coach Norman Mbiko.

Mbiko, a highly rated sevens coach, is expected in Kampala later this month and will back up the Lady Cranes technical team ahead of the March IRB Sevens World Cup in Dubai.

"In principle Mbiko agreed to be with us. We expect him at the end of this month," Lady Cranes coach David Mutaka said.

Mbiko was in Kampala in October and handled both the women and men sevens teams. Mbiko's stay in Kampala was sponsored by uganda telecom.

The Ugandans who made the Nelson Mandela Sevens final in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, last month hope to feature in another build-up tournament in South Africa in February. Last week, the team resumed daily training sessions at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Uganda will face off with 15 other teams from America, Europe, Africa, Asia and South America in the inaugural sevens women World Cup.

The three-day tournament that kicks off on March 5 will be played alongside the men's sevens World Cup. The men's competition will feature 24 teams.

The draw will be conducted in Dubai on January 19.
