Kigali — The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) High Command yesterday suspended two senior military commanders; Col Kamili Karege and Col John Bosco Mulisa, Military Spokesperson Jill Rutaremara confirmed last evening.
Speaking to The New Times, Rutaremara said; "The RDF leadership has suspended the two colonels and relieved them of their duties with immediate effect."
Col Karege has been the commandant of the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, Eastern Province while Col Mulisa has been acting Brigade Commander of 402 Brigade.
Rutaremara said that the two senior officers were not only relieved of their duties but can also not be involved 'in any military activities at the moment until further notice."
Rutaremara however did not disclose the reasons why the two senior officers were suspended.
In a related development, the Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security, Brig. Gen John Bosco Kazura has also been recalled back to the RDF headquarters for redeployment.
Probed for the details on the recalling Kazura, Rutaremara could only say: "Kazura was referred to the RDF headquarters for subsequent redeployment."
Kazura, who is also the Chairman of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), was appointed advisor to President Paul Kagame in August 2006.
