Nigeria: Kada 2009 - No Going Back on February 15, Ndanusa Insists

Bauchi — The Minister of Sports, Eng. Sani Ndanusa has insisted that the forth coming National Sports Festival tagged KADA 2008 will take place from 15-25 Feb this year.

The minister gave the assurance while speaking to Leadership Sports in Bauchi, immediately after inspecting some sporting facilities in the state earmarked to host the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

He said the date of the fiesta will not be changed despite the position of some facilities in Kaduna, venue of the competition that are yet to be completed talk lest of test running it. He stated that most of the facilities to be used during the fiesta have been completed while alternative measures have been provided in the indoor hall and the much awaited swimming pool complex.

Eng Sani explained that the organizers have provided alternative halls for all the indoor events while Hamdala Hotel may be used for the Swimming pool event, incase the new one under construction is not completed on time.He then dismissed fears that the date of the sports festival would be shifted again, saying all necessary arrangement in regards to the sports festival are on top gear and the date will not be changed."No shaking about the hosting of the much awaited National Sports Festival in Kaduna from 15-25 of next month, as we are not ready to shift the date and so by God's grace the competition will kick- off on the said date," he said.

He then commended the Bauchi state commissioner for Youth and sports, Hon Salisu Zakari for looking after the welfare of his athletes which he said will contribute towards improving sporting activities in the state and the nation in general.

The minister stated that sports has now gone digital, hence the need to improve the available facilities at the Gymnasium complex in Bauchi and other places with the aim of improving sports in the country.He then called on the commissioner to continue looking after his athletes as the best way to bring laurels to the state and the country in general.
