Angola: Home Minister Highlights Police Engagement in Festive Season

Luanda — Angola's Home Affairs minister, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo", on Tuesday here extolled the high patriotic and professional attitude shown by the Police during the festive season, taking into account the peaceful way that people celebrated

Christmas and the new year.

"Like the last few years, thanks to a previously elaborated programme and with the combination of forces of different services of the Home Ministry, it was possible to guarantee a climate of tranquillity and security to citizens", said the minister in a communiqué.

After considering December's festive season a period of the year of high euphoria that demands double engagement of the public order forces, the minister said that the seriousness shown by the population also contributed to the peaceful celebrations.

"Citizens gave a great lesson of civility, order and tranquillity, showing at the same time their characteristic of being a happy and peaceful people and with potential that make Angola a good country to live in", said the minister.

In his opinion, other factor that contributed to the success of the task of the Home Affairs Ministry was the spirit of mission and the high level of discipline of the officers.

He mentioned the co-ordination and the tight collaboration with the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and the joining of efforts between police readiness and people's civility as having completed the success.

"For this reason, we rejoice at the deeds of the Home Ministry and mainly those ones who worked more directly to secure the activities during the festive season (...)" he stressed.
