Nigeria: Ali Kwara Cracks Kano Robbery Gang, Arrests 10

Daredevil armed robbers that terrorize Kano and environs have met their waterloo, as foremost crime buster and hunter, Ali Kwara cracked down the 50-man robbery gang and arrested 10 of them.

Parading the robbers before newsmen on Monday in Kano, Kwara said the gang is composed of 50 hoodlums who killed, maimed and robbed Kano people, noting that the 10 arrested will lead him to the others.

Revealing his crackdown tactics, Kwara said the robbers, who operate around Naibawa, Dawakin Dakata, among other areas, were arrested through their gang leader.

Kwara then assured the police that if they should conduct a follow up, more members of that gang will be arrested in the state.

Kwara expressed concern that members of this gang were among some armed robbers he had arrested in the past, but stated that he had formulated a plan where both the victims and armed robbers will both voice out and tell the public what had happened.

Speaking to newsmen, one of the armed robbery victims, who is a Divisional Police Officer at Dawakin Kudu (name withheld), narrated his experience with the gang.

He said the gang gained access to his house after jumping over the fence, and by the time he heard some noise coming from the side of his gate, he peeped to see what was happening and enquired to know who was around and one of them said, "they were armed robbers".

He explained that after seeing that the robbers were trying to force into his house, he phoned the police control room through his walky-talky, saying that the hoodlums fled when they overheard him calling the police.

Kwara claimed that all the robbers that operate in the country are not beyond his reach if government will be committed to fight against crime.
