Blakk Rasta: Nana Kwame Ampadu is blasphemous One of the most 'controversial' radio presenters in the country, who has the passion of speaking on issues which border on national interests, Blakk Rasta of Hitz FM, has described Nana Kwame Ampadu as being blasphemous.
According to Blakk Rasta, it was reported by Show Biz, prior to the 2008 elections, that the Highlife legend had a vision, from which he declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, then presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to win a one touch victory in the 2008 presidential election.
"So far as I'm concerned, the presidential candidate of NPP lost the 2008 election. God reveals visions which unfold in to reality, and as such Nana Ampadu's vision never came to pass, so is he telling Ghanaians that God is a liar. Nana Kwame Ampadu is blasphemous," he added.
Blakk Rasta made these observations on his programme, 'Taxi Driver,' to react to a publication in the Daily Guide of Wednesday 14th January 2009, with the headline 'Musicians Condemn Blakk Rasta'.
He, however, debunked the statements made in the story, with references made above, noting that he conducted an interview with the former head of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Alhaji Sidiku Buari, who confirmed that the Highlife legend had been suspended indefinitely from MUSIGA, for associating with a rival musical union, which is not in affiliation with the mother body, and also his affiliation with NPP contributed to his suspension, which also does not speak well of the industry.
Blakk Rasta passionately aired his views, explaining that he had lost respect for Nana Ampadu for saying that his information, gotten from MUSIGA, was false information placed in the public domain.
He went ahead to pose a rhetorical question to musicians, who make comments such as describing the current President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills as a fake, asking how would they live in a country with a fake leadership?
According to information gathered, Nana Kwame Ampadu and C. K. Morrison, former General Secretary and Welfare Officer respectively of MUSIGA, were suspended for forming a separate collecting society outside the union, and for undermining the efforts of MUSIGA to form its own collecting society.
The conduct of the two amounted to a conflict of interest, and a violation of Article 20, section A and B of the MUSIGA Constitution, which prohibits members from joining other musician unions not affiliated with MUSIGA.
