Nigeria: Lagos Can't Compensate Oke-Afa Bomb Blast Victims - Bamidele

At about 11 a.m on Sunday, January 27, 2002, tagged "Black Sunday" in Lagos, there erupted a volcanic sound and effect which was later discovered to be bomb explosions from the Ikeja Military Cantonment where military arms and ammunition were being kept.

As a result, there was great panic among the residents, resulting in stampede across the state as people ran for dear lives. Over 100 people, mostly children and women, got drowned in Oke-Afa Canal while in flight to escape from the explosion.
