Nigeria: Senator Denies Obi's Election Fraud Charge

Senator Ikechukwu Obiorah (PDP, Anambra South) has described as spurious allegations of rigging against him in the just conducted rerun election in Anambra South Senatorial District by Governor Peter Obi.

Briefing newsmen shortly after he was sworn into the Senate, Obiorah said contrary to Obi's claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) inflated electoral figures in his favour, "The election was conducted free and fair and devoid of rancor. I can say that this is the best election in this country. Election began by 8 in the morning and stopped at 3 pm as scheduled."
