Cameroon: Nkololoun - Traders Occupy Roads

The Nkololoun Market is one of the biggest in Douala and it is specialised in second hand cloths. The traders who deal in this wear are many and everyday as new traders join the market. With the City Council's mission to keep Douala clean and to keep it in order, some of the traders driven from other parts of town have sought refuge at Nkololoun market. As a result, the market is over crowded and there is little space for the occupants especially the new traders. Thus, they have resorted to using the roads in other to make ends meet.

To make matters worse, a big potion of the market has been blocked by a huge pit. All kinds of rubbish are thrown in the hole and many people would not dare go close to the pit owing to the fact that the site is awful. In an attempt to move away from the pit, the traders have had to block passage meant for vehicles.
