Zimbabwe: Showdown Looms Over New Constitution

A major showdown is looming between civil society and the new inclusive government over the proposed constitution-making process, described by pro-democacry groups as undemocratic.

According to the September 15 power-sharing agreement between Zanu PF and the two MDC formations, which was consummated with the swearing in of the Prime Minister, his two deputies and cabinet ministers last week, the new government would be required to draft a new constitution within two months.
