Francistown — Chairperson of the council's finance committee, Councillor James Kgalajwe says their revenue support grant has been reduced by 4.23 percent. Addressing a special full council meeting convened to discuss the budget today, Coucillor Kgalajwe said the city council submitted a recurrent budget proposal amounting to P211 747 750 for the financial year 2009/2010 but the budget was reduced by P7 185 589.00.

However, Cllr Kgalajwe noted that despite the impact of the global financial crisis, this year's budget increased by 40.5 per cent compared to the previous year's budget. He noted that the votes that were affected by the decline in the proposed budget included maintenance of roads, replacement of vehicles and teaching services for children with disabilities, among others.
