Angola: Local Painter Rejoices Over Pope's Visit

20 February 2009

Luanda — The Catholic Church always looked at Angola, even during difficult times, therefore it is rejoicing to have Pope Benedict XVI visiting the country in this moment of peace, affirmed this Friday here the Angolan Pinter Hildebrando de Melo "HM"

Speaking to ANGOP, HM said that it is very important to receive a visit of the Pope, scheduled for next March 20-23, since most Angolans are Catholics.

"Pope Benedict XVI will have the chance to see that we want a better country, always counting on the Church's assistant for advice", said the source.

Hildebrando de Melo hopes that Angolans are going to receive the Pope very well, because the country is currently under a environment, different from the occasion when Pope John Paul II paid a visit in 2002, a period marked by war in Angola.

Pope Benedict XVI is supposed to arrive in Luanda early afternoon of March 20, coming from Cameroon, and will be received at the " 4 de Fevereiro" International Airport by religious entities, politicians and diplomats.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI, was born in Makti am Inn city, southeast region of German, on 16 April 1927.
