Uganda: Malinga Grabs Bronze in Djibouti

Kampala — ALEX Malinga will wait a little longer for a second Djibouti half marathon title after finishing third in the latest event held on Friday.

The experienced runner, winner of the crown in 2007, kept in the lead with Kenyan Cosmas Nitunku and Ethiopian Tewodros Shiferaw in the 21.1km race.

The trio broke away from a field of over 200 runners on the humid Djibouti roads.

However, with about 3km to go, Malinga lost steam as Shiferaw and Nitunku exchanged leads until the last 600 when the sprint started.

Shiferaw tried to chase but he also dropped off, leaving Nitunku to take the lead and the title.
