Factional tensions threaten the unity of COPE as supporters of leader Mosiuoa Lekota vow to fight what they describe as "ethnic tendencies" following the nomination of former Bishop Mvume Dandala as the party's presidential candidate.
Dandala, who is expected to be publicly paraded on Monday has apparently warned that he was not prepared to lead if his presence caused rifts within the party.
