Uyo — A foremost community leader in Ikot Ekpene local government area of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Don Etim, has called on the people of the state to cooperate with and give their full support to the administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio to enable him deliver more benefits of democracy to the people.
Etim made the call Monday while exchanging views with LEADERSHIP in Ikot Ekpene and identified the areas of outstanding performance of the government as education, health, transportation and rural development.
He called on parents to take full advantage of the government's free and compulsory education from primary to senior secondary schools, and ensure that their children enrol in schools, observing that with the programme, Akwa Ibom would soon graduate from the rank of an educationally disadvantaged to educationally advantaged state.
The community leader, a staunch PDP member in Ikot Ekpene, described education as the bedrock of development, stressing that the state would soon start to reap bountiful benefits from the free education policy of the Akpabio administration.
He commended Governor Akpabio for empowering the party's stalwarts through their involvement in the execution of direct labour and inter-ministerial projects.
Etim also spoke in glowing terms about the state government's drive on road construction and rehabilitation which cut across the state and observed that the effort would accelerate development and attract investors and tourists to the state.
On the current rate of kidnapping in the state, Etim described the perpetrators of the heinous crime as enemies of the Akwa Ibom people. "Honestly, I cannot understand what they want to achieve by creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the state, a place known to be the most peaceful in the entire country, but whatever their aim is, I am convinced that they won't succeed," he said.
According to him,"The introduction of the State Joint Security Force popularly called Operation Aduma, has reassured investors and visitors to the state of their security and existence of a conductive atmosphere for business".
He promised the support of his community to the government and expressed their readiness to partner the government to render selfless service to the people.
