Luanda — Angolan prime minister, António Paulo Kassoma, Thursday in Luanda, discussed with a delegation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), issues concerning the improvement of environment.
The Delegation headed by the executive director of the International Year of Planet Earth Corporation, Eduardo Mulder, is in Angola for a six-day visit, with the purpose of making people aware of environmental matters affecting the world and identify partnerships for the great challenges of the 21 century.
Speaking to the media, at the end of the audience with the Angolan premier, Eduardo Mulder, said the meeting served to invite Angola to be part of the organisation.
The environmentalist admitted the possibility of the establishment in the country, in September this year, of a national committee of the Planet Earth programme.
According to the official, the main purpose of his organisation is to provide information on "Planet Earth" in order to make them use it properly and secure its development in a sustainable and healthy manner.
In her turn, Angolan Environment minister, Fátima Jardim, said that the visit of Unesco's delegation aimed at an exchange of experience and upgrade the country in the ambit of the efforts that need to be developed to protect the planet.
Angola was chosen to make part of the planetary family which is responsible for the planet preservation, stated the minister.
