Asmara — It is to be recalled that at the annual meeting of the Eritrean diplomatic corps last week, President Isaias Afwerki had pointed out that all attempted political, military, economic and security conspiracies against Eritrea have been foiled by the strong resistance of the Eritrean people and its government and that it can be assumed that all the plots and devious schemes have run their course.
Indeed, in the past 10 years the Eritrean people overcame unimaginable external hostilities ranging from open aggression to direct and indirect political and economic conspiracies and firmly secured its existence and continuity. Though sorely tested, Eritrean perseverance and determination in the end guaranteed the nation's as well as the people's continuity and security. Moreover, undaunted by the aforementioned hostilities the Eritrean people even went on to implement various large-scale development projects and investment so as to bring about a ground-breaking developmental change. The fact that the Eritrean people were able to achieve such a progress without depending on others or without compromising with their political independence is indeed a proud history that attests to their strength as a people.
The Eritrean people's success in overcoming the multi-faceted hostilities together with the progress they scored in political, economic, military, diplomatic, social and cultural domains has further strengthened and boosted their already stoic self-confidence. They have also proven that it is internal factors and not external ones that determine a country's security and development. Hence, the Eritrean people need to push forward at an accelerated pace on this tried and tested path to development so as to fully realize the bright future that is already on the horizon.

The Eritrean dictatorship loves to play the ostrich game. People are being starved, shackled and murdered. Callously, sarcastically, the regime says everything is rosy in Eritrea. It is a rotten system without any moral or philosophical backbone and has no place in the 21st century. History gets rid of tyrants in mysterious ways. Usually, a louder and hotter propaganda such as the one above, is a sign that the regime is coming to end.
