South Africa: Parties Vow to Keep Election Campaigns Free of Xenophobia

Johannesburg — WEEKS before elections, SA's political parties have committed to preventing xenophobic attitudes from creeping into their campaigns.

In January an eThekwini municipality councillor, Vusi Khoza, and five others appeared in court charged with the murder of two foreigners forced to jump off a high-rise building by an armed mob. He denied the attacks were inspired by xenophobia, blaming crime instead.
