Tunis — A seminar was held in Tunis on Monday with the aim of encouraging Tunisian companies to participate in United Nations international tenders to take advantage of the attractive opportunities offered by the UN purchasing market. The United Nations purchasing market is estimated at 9 billion dollars per year.

To make up for the fact that the UN market is a hardly tapped opportunity by Tunisian companies, the centre for the promotion of exports (CEPEX) has organized a meeting on the theme " Business Opportunities in the UN Purchasing Market."

The list of goods purchased by the UN includes food and pharmaceuticals, cars, computers, software, laboratory equipments, chemicals, engineering, building services, as well as services related to security, communication and freight.

Mrs Joanna Porreca , the Director of the UN purchasing department noted that the participation to UN international tenders requires a great knowledge of the objectives and aims of this market, she also stressed the importance of transparency in this respect.

During the event, a presentation was given to identify business opportunities with UN services.
