I have always had great respect for Forayaa. It remains the only ipaper to entertain independent thoughts.. But talk of these witch hunters and flesh eating is just too mind boggling.. is this really happening??

I read of the Gambian witch hunt in my local paper here in Maine, USA. I teach sixth graders and we are studying Africa. Your question (is this really happening?) expresses my own reaction: somewhere between sadness and disbelief.

The perspective I wish my students to entertain about Africa is that amongst all the unbelievably sad news, full and worthwhile lives are being lived by individuals who love their families, their cultures and their countries.

I pray for the endurance of hope amidst so much unrelenting evil and madness.
