Harare — THE United States and British governments, who admit to jointly owning the Nissan UD truck that side-swiped Prime Minister Tsvangirai's vehicle along the Harare-Masvingo highway on Friday evening, killing his wife, Susan on the spot say the crash was a genuine accident.
The admission comes in the wake of speculation in certain quarters that the crash may not have been an accident.
"We can confirm that the truck was operated by a project jointly funded by the United States and United Kingdom.
"All indications are that this was a genuine accident," the British Foreign Office said yesterday.
The Foreign Office said the truck, owned by the United States Agency for International Development and driven by one Chinoona Mwanda (35), was delivering HIV and Aids drugs for a project co-funded by the US and British governments and run by the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council, when the accident occurred.
Mwanda, on Saturday led police through accident indications on the scene, which has been identified as a black spot.

"Genuine"? How did they determine that?
[Granted, a rhodie photographer was soon at the scene. Was he trying to establish whether any evidence on the scene could be linked to a rhodie?]
In civilized societies such as we have in USA, Zimbabwe and UK, "admission" or explanations or finger-pointing by anyone (especially those under a cloud of suspicion) do not preempt a thorough police/security investigation of the accident - or any other accident. The people of Zimbabwe do not expect anything less than a thorough investigation before anyone is exonerated.
ANYONE - local or foreign.
Reason: Consider this:
1) Suppose the accident had been even worse for the creep Tsvangirai. What would that mean for Zimbabwe?
2) And who would stand to benefit from such an outcome?

Remember:
a) Zimbabwe is in a de facto state of war declared by the westerners. The imposition of economic sanctions by African countries (especially Nigeria, Congo and South Africa) on a USA or UK would be considered by western countries as tantamount to a declaration of war.
b) Tsvangirai has been dismissed by his foreign handlers as too weak (as a partner in government) to spearhead the west's ("manifest destiny") imperial drive to dominate Cde Mugabe into restoring UK's domination of Zimbabwe/Africa and the west's alienation of the fertile ancestral lands from the natives.
[But it is precisely that naivete and lack of leadership mettle that endears Tsvangirai to the plundering imperial west as an ideal African leader in fabulously wealthy Africa. After all they really don't want to face yet again a Lumumba or a Nkrumah or a Lobengula or a Nehanda or a Shaka or a Mugabe or a ... Consider the sorry sight of a destabilized and weak Kibaki of Kenya signing away Kenya's sovereignty in the current "apprehended Somalis" saga .. Indeed, those who viciously propped up Kibaki after his defeat in Kenya's presidential elections2007 would demand payback ... ]
