Africa: Opec Divided Over Production Cut

Abuja — Members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries gathered yesterday in Vienna to fashion out solutions to the lingering volatile nature of oil prices and its costly impact on world's economy.

The agenda of the meeting by the cartel's leaders was to decide whether production cuts would be necessary. But the 12-member cartel, which pumps over 40 per cent of the world's oil supplies, seem divided over the issue and are overwhelmed by contradictory forces.
