Nigeria: Bongos Ikwue Returns to Music

Abuja — Veteran musician and performer, Bongos Ikwue, Sunday, in Otukpo, Benue State, hosted friends and family members to an all-night dance to signal his return to the music scene.

Ikwue, who was one of the early promoters of pop music in the country, staged the all night performance, with some of his new songs, to celebrate his wife of 38 years, Josephine, who turned 60 on Saturday.

"I have been putting up a band in the last two years, but most people did not know, and we are coming out with an album soon," he said.

The 67-year-old ageing but stylish and youthful musician has been away from the music for more than 20 years, after recording hits in the 70's and 80's.
