Abuja — FCT police have restricted the movement of the Nigeria Football Federation General- Secretary, Bolaji Ojo Oba, to Abuja in a bid to ensure hitch free investigations into the alleged theft of 200,000 US dollars from the football house secretariat accounts office.
The NFF assistant general- secretary (Finance and Administration), Kayode Musiba Kolawole and Osawaru have also been
restricted by the police. They must not travel out of Abuja until after their investigations.NFF Chief Media Officer confirmed at the weekend that the officials of the football house were dumbstruck on
Thursday when they found that a metallic safe in the Secretariat's accounts office had been damaged and about $200,000 stolen. NFF president, Sani Lulu Abdullahi, has promised that the theft would not affect Nigeria's World Cup qualifier against Mozambique this week.The team officials were supposed to leave yesterday (Monday) for South Africa where the Eagles players have been scheduled to resume their camping before moving to Maputo Saturday.
A police source hinted that efforts are being made to establish how and where the money was changed, and who handled the transaction.It was learnt that when the money was taken into NFF secretariat accounts office, it was kept in a metallic safe instead of a stronger metal safe that could stand any form of breakage.
