Nigeria: Vandals Besiege Nnamani's N1Billion Mansion in Enugu

Enugu — Vandals are now on a looting spree at the palatial mansion of the former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani.

The mansion is located at Nnamani's Agbani country home in Nkanu West Local Government of the state.

Even with his present status as senator, hoodlums reportedly gained entrance into the compound. Nnamani, who is presently the Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs's built the mansion at a cost of over N1 billion, while the looted property vandalised by the hoodlooms is estimated at millions of Naira.

The vandals reportedly cannibalised a 500 KVA generator and another 350 KVA generator in the Senator's house and removed some vital parts from them.

Our source also disclosed that cases of burglary were also recorded at Mea Mater Elizabeth College, one of the blue chip investments linked to Nnamani who is currently facing trial before a Lagos High Court over a 100-count charge of corruption, instituted against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

When our reporter contacted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Enugu, Ebere Amaraizu, to confirm the development, the police spokesperson said he was on his way back to Enugu from Abuja and was not in a position to give any information on the matter.

But a source at the State Police Command confirmed the incident and said some persons have been arrested in connection with the crime.

It was further gathered that the vandals capitalised on the porous security in Nnamani's house to perpetrate the crime.

The senator was said to have sacked security personnel in his house when five of his dogs died on the same day, making him (Nnamani) suspect that his opponents must have infiltrated his household.

Ever since the security men were sacked, the gigantic mansion had remained without security, a situation worsened by the fact that the estranged ex-governor rarely comes home since he disagreed with his former political godson and successor, Sullivan Chime.
