Muslim women under the auspices of the Federation of Muslim Women's Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Tuesday held a joint meeting with medical experts in Abuja to discuss on how to improve adolescent health in Nigeria.
The meeting was attended by the National Leader of FOMWAN, Dr. Lateefat Durosimi, Dr. Francis Ohamyido, Dr Prosper Igboeli, Mr Abubakar Ezge and leaders from the four states branches of the association, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking at the occasion, FOMWAN's leader, Dr. Lateefat Durosimi spoke on the need for members to visit rural communities across the country to identify their health problems and improve on them through the assistance of the state government.
"Although this exercise is expensive, the association will not achieve anything if members should wait for finance," she stated.
Dr. Durosimi said the association will transport members to the rural areas for speedy achievements, while the medical expert advised members at the state levels to go to various local government chairmen in order to ensure the implementation of a continuous joint health programme.
